Copyright and License
Before publication, authors must enter into a licensing contract with Barw that permits us to disseminate their work. Under this contract:
- Authors keep the copyright to their articles featured in Barw journals.
- They authorize Barw to publish the article and recognize it as the primary publisher.
- They retain extensive rights to reuse their material in future works.
- Upon publication, the article is distributed under a Creative Commons license, which allows certain re-use by third parties.
Creative Commons licenses
Articles featured in Barw journals are made freely accessible to everyone and are distributed under Creative Commons licenses—a widely recognized framework that facilitates the sharing and reuse of open access content while ensuring that the original creators maintain their copyright.
Barw employs two distinct types of Creative Commons licenses for its open access articles:
CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 International License: Under this arrangement, the article can be shared with others for non-commercial purposes, provided that the original authors are properly credited. However, any modifications, adaptations, or commercial uses of the content require explicit permission from the copyright holders.
CC BY 4.0 International License: This license allows for a broader range of uses. It not only permits sharing and redistribution but also allows for adaptations and even commercial use, as long as appropriate credit is given to the original authors.
By using these licenses, Barw ensures that the work is easily accessible and widely disseminated, while still protecting the authors' rights and promoting responsible use of their intellectual property.
Article processing charges (APC)
Research indicates that open access articles typically achieve 1.6 times more citations, are downloaded four times more frequently, and receive 1.9 times the news coverage, along with other benefits such as enhanced visibility and broader dissemination.
Every article in our journals is made available online without any paywalls as soon as it is published. This accessibility is made possible by an article processing charges (APC) that covers all our publishing services—from the digital platforms we offer to both editors and authors, to the entire process of production, hosting, indexing, and customer support. The fee is due once your manuscript is approved for publication by our editors, and it is billed to you, your funding agency, your institution, or your employer.
The article processing charge (APC) for original articles, reviews, and meta-analyses is 1000 USD. For case reports, the APC is 600 USD. Editorials, letters to the editor, and correspondence will be published free of charge.
Waivers and Discounts
Barw’s collaboration with Research4Life facilitates the open-access publication of research from institutions in low- and middle-income countries and regions by offering automatic waivers and discounts on Article Processing Charges (APCs). A comprehensive list of eligible countries and regions is provided below.
These waivers and discounts are applicable solely to authors whose manuscripts are accepted for publication in Barw’s fully open-access journals. Eligibility for these benefits is determined based on the corresponding author’s institutional affiliation(s) provided at the time of manuscript submission.
The waiver or discount is automatically applied by the APC calculation system, requiring no additional action from the authors. We kindly ask authors to refrain from discussing payment-related matters with editors. In addition to the Research4Life partnership, certain journals may offer supplementary APC waiver programs. These initiatives will be managed by the editors, and authors may engage in discussions about them directly with the editorial team.

APC refund policy?
Barw is committed to ensuring that every article is published under the precise open access conditions chosen by its authors. In the event that a mistake on our part prevents an article from being made freely accessible on our journal platform—thereby not meeting the agreed open access standards—we will refund the Article Processing Charge (APC) that was paid. This reimbursement policy applies only when the error originates from our processes, such as the article not appearing as open access as promised. Importantly, a refund will be granted only if the issue remains unresolved for a period of 21 working days after publication. If we are able to correct the error within that timeframe, no refund will be issued since the article would then comply with the open access terms. This policy underscores our dedication to transparency and accountability, ensuring that authors receive the publication model they selected without compromise.
Should you notice any discrepancies in your article's open access classification or licensing details, please reach out to Barw Info@Barw.krd
